Claus Spanner Elmholt, also known by the artist alias artsucker, has been an active visual artist for several years, with many prestigious exhibitions at leading galleries and artfairs in capital cities throughout the Nordics.
Since Claus started visiting the Danish island of Bornholm many years ago, its nature, especially the areas around Dueodde Beaches, has been a great inspiration, and thus also the inspiration for this series of works.
The exquisite wooden branches that are the foundation of these works have been selected from Bornholm's coasts, where the trees at the water's edge are washed and polished by the salty water and fine sand, creating something special: Branches fall from these trees, and some wash up on land as gifts from nature. Over time, they are made very firm and durable by the salt water and simultaneously become bleached by the sun and softly rounded on the surfaces, naturally polished by the sand from the beaches.
